Upgraded Features

We've just completed upgrades to MyMedClub.com, the most ambitious being the enhanced mentoring system. Features of the system include a mentee pool with profiles, mentee search, and mentor shared libraries. We have also made a number of enhancements to the forums including a rating system and flagged postings.

When MyMedClub.com originally launched, the new NPI system was in a state of flux and we opted to employ the outgoing UPIN system. Things settled out and we just implemented the new NPI system in verifying physicians. This database will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Along with the more nuts and bolts features, we're slowly refining the design aspects of the site. While this is strictly an aesthetics issue, we're also exploring how to make things easier to use and reducing process steps. Everything we're doing is focused on making this site the premier physician's and student's community.

Ranking System

Having created an entire website devoted to rating leaders, we're keen on providing community members the abillity to rate content. As rating forum posts is slated for phase two of development, we've nonetheless left placeholders in the forums for this feature.

Since we want members involved in helping to define where MyMedClub is headed, we'd like to get a little feedback on whether you think this is a valuable feature. We're going to add a forum in the Shared Forums for Site Feedback and this will be one of the topics.

Looking Ahead

In our first iteration of MyMedClub, we've built a forum system that allows for interaction between doctors and a followup forum for medical students that allow them to respond to topics raised by physicians, but is not part of the docs' thread. We've also introduced a shared forum for allowing physicians and students to interact, the beginning of our mentoring program. There are also profiles, trusted member lists, messaging, and a resume tool.

We're still not finished, however. Each feature is just the foundation of an aggressive plan. Why not wait and roll out everything all at once? Because we're not doing this alone. We're working with physician associations and universities, getting their feedback as we go, using that information to further shape the site and community. The current site, however, is not incomplete as we have already received high marks from the aforementioned institutions.

What we have delivered thus far could only be done a few ways and we think we nailed it. Moving forward, we're looking to those who will help make MyMedClub a thriving community. And yes, that means our individual members as well.

New Design

Call it a little backwards, but we rolled out the site after an intensive development effort and while we celebrated the functionality and making the deadline, we were divided on the look and feel. As often happens with a good design, it looks great the first time around, but in subsequent views it loses its appeal.

So here we were, after product launch, and a few members of the M Cubed team were wondering if it couldn't be spruced up a bit. Normally fighting words for a development team, especially after a launch, we embraced the challenge and came up with a drastic new look that we have to concede looks much better than the original. A little dissension isn't a bad thing every now and then.

Site Launch

MyMedClub.com will officially launch on November 1, 2007 and represents a significant effort and timely community for physicians and medical students. Where competitors struggle with alienating the very members they serve, My Med Club does not cater to Big Pharma and keeps its community data private.

The site currently features forums for doctors, medical school students, and shared forums. It also features the first phase of a mentoring program that is garnering the attention of both universities and physician's associations. The next phase will see expanded capabilities within mentoring and the addition of university-sponsored grand rounds content.
